The first rebuild project begins ! After weeks of wranglings we're finally able to start work on one of the houses in La Fortune, St Patrick destroyed by Hurricane Beryl.
This is just one of over 30 houses in this small community that was damaged... but it's a start !
As we break ground on this initial project, the air is filled with a mix of relief and determination. Neighbors gather around, curious to see what we'll be able to achieve.
The sight of the first lengths of wood being laid doesn't just signify the reconstruction of a home; it symbolizes hope and the beginning of a renewed community spirit that the hurricane couldn't extinguish.
Training local volunteers is essential in our mission to build long-term resilience in La Fortune. By equipping residents with the skills to rebuild and maintain their homes, we're empowering them to take control of their future.
This hands-on training ensures that knowledge of hurricane-resistant construction techniques stays within the community, fostering self-reliance and preparedness for any storms ahead.
